English rock band the Libertines has announced it is opening a hotel in Margate called the Albion Rooms.
The band is building an extension at the rear of the former Palm Court hotel to house a recording studio, which the band would use as well as rent out to local artists, and is refurbishing the five-storey, 10-bedroom property overlooking the sea.
The hotel will also feature an art studio and a bar, with individually-designed guest rooms with a “distinctly Libertines style”.
The Libertines is writing its fourth album, which will be launched with a party and show at the Albion Rooms in the summer.
The band posted across its social media pages: “Oh, we did like to be beside the seaside… so much so in fact we’ve decided to move there. Not just any-there though, a very specific there: The Good Ship Albion will officially be dropping anchor at The Albion Rooms in Margate.”
