The new Michelin Guide to France 2018has announced two new three-star restaurants.
Marc Veyrat’s La Maison des Bois in Manigod, Haut-Savoie, and Restaurant Christophe Bacquié in the Hôtel du Castellet in Provence have both received the top honour.
The two restaurants were among a total of 621 starred restaurants, including 57 new ones, to be announced in the new guide.
Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guides, described Veyrat’s food as enhancing “the Savoyard herbs and flowers he gathers from the wild, and combines creativity, authenticity and refinement to offer customers an unforgettable experience”, while Bacquié was said to offer “very high-flying cuisine: vibrant with emotions”.
The 2018 guide also includes five new two-star restaurants: Au 14 Février in Saint-Amour-Bellevue, L’Hostellerie Jérôme in La Turbie, L’Auberge du Père Bise on the shores of Lake Annecy in Talloires, Takao Takano in Lyon, and Flaveur, in Nice. Fifty new one-star restaurants were also announced.
The 621 starred restaurants in the 2018 guide include 28 establishments with three stars, 85 with two stars and 508 with one star. There are also 644 Bib Gourmand restaurants.
