D&D London announces Mindful City funds raised for WaterAid

D&D London announced today that during January and February the restaurant group’s Mindful City campaign raised £22,000 for chosen charity partner, WaterAid.

Launched on 10th January, D&D’s Mindful City was a group wide sustainability and wellbeing initiative. As part of the campaign, all restaurants and bars across the group enforced a ban on plastic straws, making D&D one of the first restaurant groups to support London Evening Standard’s The Last Straw campaign. Londoners also saw most of the restaurants in the group focusing on promoting wellness and fitness for body and soul, through mindful menus, speaker events and fitness classes.

The campaign was symbolised by a sculpture installed outside the recently launched Fiume restaurant at Battersea Power Station. ‘CORE’ was created in a collaboration between Creative Debuts, D&D London, and Belu Water. Belu donates 100% of its profits to WaterAid. D&D supports Belu by serving its mineral water across D&D sites and throughout the Mindful City Campaign added an optional £1 on every customer bill throughout January until 13 February. The group also hosted a Charity Bake off at Bluebird and a celebrity Comedy show at Old Bengal Bar.

Des Gunewardena, CEO & Chairman of D&D comments, “We are really pleased to have raised a substantial sum for WaterAid on the back of our Mindful City campaign, and thrilled that our sustainability efforts are able to contribute to such an important cause”.
