Eataly, the 40-strong international food hall brand, is to open its first UK site in London’s Broadgate in 2020.
Broadgate will host Eataly – named by combining Eat and Italy – in a 42,000 sq ft space.
Founded by Oscar Farinetti in Turin, Italy, Eataly now has sites in 12 countries including New York, Stockholm, Japan, Istanbul and Sao Paulo.
The concept hosts Italian restaurants, food stalls offering cheese, oils and vinegars, coffee shops, and small stalls serving hot food dishes.
Luca Baffigo CEO of Eataly said: “Visiting Borough Market before opening our first Eataly in Italy was a source of great inspiration for our concept. This is why opening a place in London where people can buy, eat and learn is a very important and exciting milestone for us. Being able to bring our model into a place that is so significant for us fills us with satisfaction and stimulates us to create in London a wonderful multifunctional experience.”
